You cannot hear your own voice the way that other people can hear it. The sound travels to you from inside as well as outside, the brain receives a whole lot of resonances that do not 'transmit'. So it is essential to find a coach with ears that you can trust.
The essence of singing lessons is that teachers 'listen' to their students and comment on what they hear. They praise, give advice, suggest different ways of overcoming difficulties, encourage, but above all they listen, and listen hard.
You should never sign on with a teacher or coach until you are absolutely sure that he or she is the right one for you. You have to trust implicitly, trust their ears, their taste, their ability to understand you and to communicate with you. And it is essential that you get along personally.
Your lessons have to be a pleasure or they will probably be useless to you.
You forge a partnership with your coach/teacher, you discuss things and work things out together. Remember we learn from our students as much as our students learn from us.
During these sessions we would also be working on your confidence and with over 30 years experience in the music industry we can help you in any area you may wish to pursue.
I am happy to do a couple of trial sessions to see if I am the right person for you.
We have a private recording studio where I would book your lessons to coincide so a musician/sound engineer is also on hand.
We can then make sure that we are working in the right key for your vocals and help with any arrangements or recording ambitions you may have.
The cost for these initial sessions would be £30.00 per hour.
Any music scores or tracks, CD recordings and production would be estimated separately.
You would be under no obligation to pursue these from us if you already have a supplier or arranger.
Due to the set up necessary for the use of the studio we would require a minimum of 24 hours notice of cancellation.
